<div class=MsoNormal style="font-size:12pt;"><B><SPAN style='FONT-SIZE: 16pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Arial","sans-serif"'>At the recent Connecticut state convention of the National Federation of the Blind in November, an excellent suggestion from one of their members was made, asking that we provide clients with more detailed information on residential independent living programs that are available across the country for people who are blind. Subsequently, member state agencies of the National Council of State Agencies for the Blind were surveyed to learn what were some of the programs that each agency has utilized and these programs were then contacted. Those programs that responded to the inquiry provided a brief description of their services as well as contact information. The attached document is a culmination of this research and serves as a reference guide for clients of the DORS-BESB Vocational Rehabilitation Program who desire to learn more about the services offered by each of these centers. Please note that this listing does not include every residential program that exists across the nation, but rather it is a representation based on those programs whose names were forwarded to us and who responded with information. This information will also be posted on the DORS website in the BESB Vocational Rehabilitation Section in the near future. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></B></div>
