
<html><body><span style="font-family:Verdana; color:#000000; font-size:12pt;"><div class="MsoNormal" style="font-size:12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Note: If anyone wants to send a card to the family, it should be sent to Maria Pacelli, 66 Dominique Drive, Concord, NH 03301</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="font-size:12pt;"><br></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="font-size:12pt;"><br></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="font-size:12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Concord, NH - Betty M. (Goodhue/Pacelli) Woodward, 88, of Concord, NH, died peacefully at home on February 5, 2020 with the grace, dignity and serenity with which she lived. Betty was born in Stamford, Connecticut on October 28, 1931 to Elizabeth (Skidd) and Walter K. Goodhue. She graduated from Stamford High School in 1949 and earned an Associates Degree from Green Mountain College in Vermont. She was predeceased by Bruce Woodward, her husband of 30 years. Betty and her former husband Frank Pacelli (deceased) moved from Stamford to Danbury CT in 1966 where they raised their five children. Betty had an active social and community life that included volunteering at Danbury Hospital for a number of years. Betty was a dedicated member of The National Federation of the Blind - specifically its Connecticut Chapter of which she was President for many years. She was a powerful advocate for those, like herself, who experience vision impairment. She lobbied for change at the local and national levels, making many trips to Washington, D.C. to speak with Congressmen and women as well as Senators at a time when such advocacy could make a difference. Betty fought not only for changes in laws, but more importantly about the stigma that people with blindness face. She was the epitome of the intelligence, dignity, eloquence, tenacity, competence and fierce pride that all people - with visible disabilities or not - possess. Betty married Bruce and moved to Wethersfield CT in 1987 where she was an active and beloved member of the First Church of Christ. She and Bruce continued their work with the NFB well into their later years, winning several local and national awards. Betty moved to Concord, NH in 2018 to live out her life with Maria and Bret. Betty is survived by her five children: Ellen Pacelli and her partner Nick Mastropietro of West Haven, CT, Maria Pacelli and her husband Bret Longgood of Concord, NH, son Phil Pacelli of Marietta, GA, Katie Pacelli-Klinger and her husband Rob Klinger of Alamogordo, NM, and Andy Pacelli and his wife, Missy Marcille of Franklin, NH; eight grandchildren: Joe Pacelli of CT, Meghan, Ryan, and Emily Marhan of NH, Scott Solomon of ID and Kaleb Pierce of UT, and Alex Blanchette and Shawn Pacelli of NH; and 3 great-grandchildren with one more on the way! She also leaves behind many friends and admirers from all over the country and her incredibly devoted team of caregivers from Concord Regional VNA Hospice and other agencies who tended to her with so much love, laughter and dignity up to the very end. We can never thank you enough. A small private gathering will be held at Betty's home. An announcement will be made if the family decides to hold a more formal service at a later date. Memorial donations in Betty's name can be made to: CT Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind 111 Sheldon Road Unit 420 Manchester, CT 06045 or to: Concord Regional VNA Hospice House 240 Pleasant Street Concord, NH 03301. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is assisting the family.</span></div> <div class="MsoNormal" style="font-size:12pt;"><span style=""><br></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="font-size:12pt;"><span style="">Published in The Hartford Courant on Feb. 12, 2020</span><o:p style=""></o:p></div><div> <div class="MsoNormal" style="font-size:12pt;"><br></div></div><div><br mce_bogus="1"></div><div></div> </span></body></html>
