I did not call out anyone by name or directly accuse anyone of misconduct, so I did not realize my post was violating the spirit of the list serve rules. I only wanted to emphasize we should all work together, or we may face the same scenario that occurred in the Massachusetts affiliate. My comments were a point of reflection, and not a point of attack. Sometimes it is best to learn from your own mistakes, and other times it is best to learn from other’s experiences. No matter how you learn, either by your own failings or by the mistakes of others, we should always critique the path we choose to follow, and not just concern ourselves with the end destination. The email I sent was my subtle way of critiquing the path of blindness we all share together. Sometimes I find this path extremely crowded, and I end up tripping over others who are on the same path as myself. Sometimes the very same path is completely devoid of other people, and I cannot find anyone to walk with for what seems like forever, but eventually another traveler comes along to walk by my side. Someone always does. The email was intended to demonstrate what could happen if we decide to leave this well-traveled path that we all have been sharing since 1940.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Also, I do not believe Amy purposely ignored her own members. I was being sarcastic to prove a point. I take full responsibility if my email caused anyone discomfort. I have a dry sense of humor, and sometimes it can get me into trouble. I, like many subscribers, have my opinions on matters internal to our organization, but we all expect that this listserve will be used to share information to help blind people and build this organization. I add that Amy’s own post sought to move the Federation forward by describing her commitments under what I imagine are difficult circumstances—so that the new leadership team in our neighboring affiliate can have the best opportunities to build the Federation as the membership saw fit.
