Brooks Blindness Support Center. The police investigation is still unfolding but to the best of our understanding, Steve and his partner Corey were struck by a speeding vehicle close to Oak Hill's campus early this morning. Steve was a fixture of the Oak Hill Community for nearly 20 years, pioneering our digital accessibility program and teaching others how to use adaptive technology. Steve was a passionate advocate for accessibility and was ever the patient teacher while showing others how to make the world more inclusive for those with visual impairments. When he wasn't storm chasing Tornadoes across the Plains, Steve could frequently be found in the company of his service dogs, Joel and Elvis, whom he loved very dearly. We will remember Steve for his courage, tenacity, and kindness. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Oak Hill is eternally grateful for the impact Steve made on our organization and all the lives he changed for the better. Tomorrow, we are called to hug our loved ones a little tighter, and be thankful for the time we have with them now.
