The next CT LAB book club will meet virtually on Wednesday October 30, 2024, from 11:00am to 12pm. The title we will be reading is Solito: A Memoir by Javier Zamora. This title is available as a Talking Book cartridge and from BARD as DB 110163. A summary of the book follows.<br>
<br>
Trip. My parents started using that word about a year ago—“one day, you’ll take a trip to be with us. Like an adventure.” Javier Zamora’s adventure is a three-thousand-mile journey from his small town in El Salvador, through Guatemala and Mexico, and across the U.S. border. He will leave behind his beloved aunt and grandparents to reunite with a mother who left four years ago and a father he barely remembers.<br>
<br>
A memoir as gripping as it is moving, Solito provides an immediate and intimate account not only of a treacherous and near-impossible journey, but also of the miraculous kindness and love delivered at the most unexpected moments.<br>

The National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) recently announced the release of BARD Express, version 3.0.0.7. This release includes the long-awaited BARD Express Player, which allows patrons to choose an audio book or magazine from their BARD Express bookshelf and listen to it directly on their PC. Please note that BARD Express is currently available for Windows-based computers only. BARD Express is not available for Mac-based computers.<br>
