When my then fiancee and I moved to Connecticut\u202620 years ago\u2026Joyce was, along with Beth Rival, one of the first in our NFB movement and family to welcome me. She quickly invited me to dive into our local chapter and affiliate activities. And she strongly supported my stepping into affiliate leadership here in Connecticut. Joyce was always reaching out, building, mentoring, and encouraging. I had the privilege of being her roommate for a short time the first time we went to Houston, Texas. She had not tried a national convention in a while and unfortunately unfortunately, her health was not good and her brother who lives in Texas had to come and get her. But the short time we were together, I enjoyed her company very much.
