response to the global spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Governor
Ned Lamont provided the following updates as of 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October
2, 2020:

The following is a summary of the day-to-day newly reported data on cases,
deaths, and tests in Connecticut. It is important to note that these newly
reported updates include data that occurred over the last several days to a
week. All data in this report are preliminary, and data for previous dates

Connecticut Department of Public Health issues COVID-19 alert for Norwich
after significant spike in new cases

 

The Connecticut Department of Public Health late last night issued a
COVID-19 alert

to a recent spike of new cases over the last two weeks. The department if
working with local officials to get the word out in the community to take
extra precautions, including:

 

*	Limiting trips outside the home;
*	Wearing masks anytime when leaving the house;
*	Avoiding indoor gatherings with people who are not part of the
household; and
*	Not attending large outdoor gatherings

 

Between September 13 and 26, there were at least 84 new COVID-19 cases in
Norwich, raising the daily case rate to 24 per 100,000 - the highest rate in
the state.

 

The following is a list of testing locations that are available in Norwich
this weekend. Testing at each of these locations is free and no appointment
is necessary:

Norwich); 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
*	Backus Hospital (326 Washington Street, Norwich); 8:00 am. To 4:00
p.m.

a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

*	Kelly STEAM Magnet Middle School (25 Mahan Drive, Norwich); 9:00
a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
*	Backus Hospital (326 Washington Street, Norwich); 8:00 a.m. to 4:00
p.m.
*	Three Rivers Community College (574 New London Turnpike, Norwich);
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
