<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">After consulting with President Edward Shaham, I believe it is best to move the meeting to an August date.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Ultimately, if we are going to schedule a meeting, it is important to have it scheduled far enough in advance that we have a decent probability of a health level of attendance
by the membership.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">We had discussed August 11 to keep the Thursday trend. I would normally call the meeting myself for that date because most NFB chapters and divisions have a clause in their
constitutions which says that any member can call a meeting. Ours, however, says the following:<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">VII. MEETINGS <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">1. Annual Business Meetings. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The organization shall hold an annual business meeting, the time and place of which shall coincide with the time and place of the state convention of the National Federation of the Blind of Connecticut.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">2. Special Meetings. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The president of this organization may call a special meeting any time she or he or a majority of the board of directors deems such action to be necessary. At such special meetings at least twenty-five percent of the active members must
be present to transact business. To call such a meeting, notice must be given to the board of directors at least ten days prior to the date of such special meeting.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">So, it appears that President Brian Martin must call the meeting and do it 10 days prior to the meeting. I think August 11 is a great idea.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">I also want to recommend that we amend our constitution to allow any member to call a meeting.
