[Diabetes-talk] testing with the prodigy voice

Take a look at http://www.VoiceOfTheDiabetic.org and put
"Finger-sticking" or something similar in the search box. You'll come up
with a couple of good articles -- Ed Bryant's on the general technique
and Tom Ley's article specifically about the Voice.

However, I would say that the most important thing is to make sure that
the hand and finger that you will use to test is warm so rung warm water
over the hand and finger for something like two minutes or soak the hand
in warm water. Then squeeze the finger a bit before and after sticking
yourself. Make sure your finger is flat so the blood pools and won't
smear. And I find it easiest to bring the meter to the finger, not the
other way round. And remember that the slot that sucks up the blood is
at the end of the strip on the upper edge. Be very gentle as you touch
the strip to the finger so you again won't smear the sample.

I find I go thru phases where I get good readings many times in a row
and then go thru a period when it's harder to get good readings. I tend
to have trouble as I have Raynaud's Syndrome which makes blood in the
fingers harder to get so I feel your frustration.

Subject: [Diabetes-talk] testing with the prodigy voice

I was wondering if anyone can give me any tips or tricks for getting
blood
on the strip quickly. i seem to be having trouble now and don't know why
this i've not had trouble in the past with testing but just got the
prodigy
voice and i know we've co vered this issue before but could use a
refresher.
i am using my fingers to get the blood. past few tiems i've had to do 2
or 3
tests because it says either i am low and i know i'm not or it shuts off
before it gets enough blood. any help is appreciated.
