[Diabetes-talk] introduction

Hi, Paul and welcome to the group! smiles. My name is Kijuana. I am also
newly diagnosed as of October 31 of 2008. I'm still trying to deal with my
diagnoses so if you'd like to talk with someone new to this I'd be
interested.

Now to the Autocode.. The Autocode is more for people with low vision than
it is for totally blind people. My state rehab services got me one and then
people on this list suggested the Prodigy voice. For one thing there is a
very small, but detectable slot on the edge of the strips for your blood.
Secondly the voice has a button on the front that will tell you your blood
sugar reading as many times as you need to hear it. And when you get enough
blood onto the test strip the machine says, "Now testing."

Again, I welcome you to the group and hope you find the same level of
support I have. There's a lot to learn, and it can be really overwhelming,
but it really does get easier. Take care.
