[Diabetes-talk] Denied my insulin from HIP today

I agree I guess that HIP isn't getting any kickbacks or other incentives for paying for this drug, they will pay for the vials and the syringes, but I don't want that anymore, I over dosed to many times on humalog thinking it was lantus, and being that I have been on the pens now for 3 years I should be allowed to decide or the dr and not the insurance company of what medications that I should or should not take, there is no generic form of LANTUS.

But, again, they are paying for it only in the vials and not the pens.

We are trying to get me an insulin pump again, we tried 5 years ago after I had the kidney transplant but my levels were to high for medicare to pay for it, we are trying again, my levels meaning my pancreas levels have dropped to 0.1 now and at the point where Medicare will pay for it.

I have Medicare as my primary but they do not cover my pharmacy, so I have my husband's insurance as my secondary and that pays for my medications.

That is why insurance companies change there formularies, they will pay for what the companies are offering as kick backs in return.

The biggest compliment you can pay me is to recommend my services!

Good for you for making noise about this, Cheryl. I don't care who
makes money and who doesn't, if one is in business and has accostomed
your clients to expect a certain service, you need to deliver it or
involve your clients in the changes, whatever they may be. No
sympathy for insurance companies here. We're not all the same. There
are different ways of administering medication, as there should be.
Every system has its strengths and weaknesses. Life shouldn't always
be about the cheapest way to get something done. Just my two cents' worth.
