[Diabetes-talk] solo meter

Hard to say. There is one meter (not accessible) that *does* meet lab
standard. It costs something like $600.00. It also takes pipette of blood
-- not a minuscule sample. But if the FDA tightens accuracy standards, I
think manufacturers will step up to the plate (including DDI and Biosense)
and make affordable meters that meet the new standards.

Mike, I puzzled for several years as to the problem of a 20% variation, plus

or minus, in accuracy of my glucose readings. Then I decided to just look
for a consistent pattern. My Prodigy seemed to be reading a bit high, so I

took that into consideration. But this afternoon, when I suddenly felt
woozy, unsteady on my feet, and had a slight headache, my Prodigy said the
reading was 70. From the way I felt, it may have been 50, for all I know.
But, considering how far the market has come in the effort to narrow the
accuracy range, I'll accept my Prodigy and its flaws. If it were much
better, I wonder if it would be affordable? Just wondering . . . - Bill
Lewis
