Lynn:

The other reason the GlucoWatch hasn't had much success is that it irritates
the skin in many people as the electric field pulls the intersticial fluid
from the inner layers of the skin onto the sensor.

Dorothea,
hanks for bringing this product to my attention. I checked out the company's
website, and it appears that the device needs to be calibrated only every 4
weeks. I wonder if it is approved by the FDA if the need for calibration
will remain the same. I hope so. I think the need for daily finger sticks
is one of the reasons why the Gluco Watch has not been more popular. I
suspect though that the cost of the device will be high, although over the
long run it will be cheaper since you won't need to purchase test strips for
it. We'll have to wait and see if the FDA will approve it and then if
insurance companies will cover it. I'll keep my fingers crossed on all
fronts. Successful technology advances diabetes treatment for us all.
Lynn
