[Diabetes-talk] New ways?

Cheryl,
I agree. The only way to truly regulate and manage your diabetes is to
track daily glucose readings.
I'm not saying everybody who doesn't do this is way out of control, but
an A1-C only shows an average over a three-month period- it does not
indicate why that average is what it is.
Especially if an A1-C is on an extreme end, it is vital you and your
doctor have access to daily records during that three-month period to
understand why the A1-C was what it was, and where to fix the problem.
Without those daily readings, it is impossible to know where and why an
adjustment is needed.
I've had some doctors over the years not handle my diabetes as well as
they should, but no doctor has ever not required I do not bring readings
in. I may not have always brought them, but it was made clear that
without them, my doctor could not properly assess and adjust.
Sincerely,
Bridgit Kuenning-Pollpeter

Paul are you seeing a regular doctor or a diabetic specialist that is
called an endocrinologist, those are the ones I see, and you should be
bringing in your meter or numbers to show the doctor whether they ask
for it or not.
We have to be our own advocates and make the doctors do there jobs
correctly or what is the point.

What has always been strange to me is that my doctor has never tried
to
check my meter's records, or ask for a log. His interest is always in
accessing a1c levels which he gets when I come in for checking.
My supplier just delivers things, and I'm never asked about anything
except
whether I'm going to be home to take delivery of my supplies. I think
it's
a shame that things have to be so complicated. Stay cool.
Paul

I am surprised they don't ask for the a one c.
I know they can't do that, where that would show truly if you were
doing
well.
As I call it a give away.
It should be between you and your doctor with their team how you
should
be with your a one c.
