Cheryl, of course you can remove and/or stop the pump. I did say that 
I do this during my shower. I've been using a pump for 20 years. My 
comment is that this isn't always necessary for exercise, in fact 
it's quite rare among pump users who engage in ordinary sorts of 
exercise. That was my disagreement.
