>From what I understand, there use to be an accessible insulin pump, but
then the FDA stopped approving it, or something to that effect.
Obviously Prodigy believes it has a product meeting the needs of blind
pump users, but has yet to release it, whatever the reasons may be.
The question is always how do we get companies and businesses to
aggressively work towards accommodating a very small percentage of the
population? Regardless of what intentions people have when starting
businesses, the point of business is to make money. Making up only like,
what is it, one percent of the population, as consumers who are blind,
our voice is often over-looked because we're not the big market. Not
trying to push conspiracy theories or anything- just a past business
student who worked in business and know at the end of the day, all that
really matters are the dollars and cents. As consumers, we have to find
a way to make these companies and suppliers understand that, though a
small group, our needs are equally important especially when in the
realm of health and medicine.
Sincerely,
Bridgit Kuenning-Pollpeter

I certainly agree that we could learn a lot from the toy industry. The
big
question, then, is what it will take to get the tech companies to
address
this issue, and what it will take to ensure that this issue stays on
their
radar. Thanks.
