Well Darling,  I too have been a Braille reader all my life--some 48 years 
or so at least.  If I were you, I'd get the Packmate display and just keep 
right on reading.  I don't think in a year things will happen to your 
fingers unless your sugar is way, way out of control or something.  I myself 
have been diabetic since 1985 and I still carry on with my Braille like I 
always did.
