Cheryl:

I think your article would make a better Monitor article than list post.

As for exercise classes, I concur with you and all the others. Were I Julie,
I think I'd haul Hubby into diabetes education classes or tell him to go out
to eat. Exercise and blood glucose control are the two proven pillars of
good diabetes management. It boggles my mind that he wouldn't be
enthusiastic about improving his wife's diabetes management.

Put the hammer down, Julie! (smile)

Hello Julie and all:
Been so excited about the news about me and my business and mentions the NFB
and losing my vision to diabetes, I have sent it to Mike Freeman, and a few
others on this list and wondering if I can post it to the list, would it be
okay.
Now, getting to Julie's questions.
I used to go to curves just a block near me, but I didn't like it to much,
closer is not always better, you need to try different things to know what
you will continue to do, if you like the place and the things you are doing,
you will be more eager to go there and do it.
I have a membership to planet fitness, as well, it is always to crowded, so
I started using the treadmill at home and getting some exercise videos, just
didn't get motivated, no one around, so I didn't do it.
Now, I just got information from a woman that I met at a business network
meeting here on long island that owns here own fitness studio, I went this
past Tuesday to talk with her, I brought my guide dog Maxx with me of
course.
She has done some volunteer work at the guide dog foundation here near me
where I got Maxx from, and is well aware that they are welcome every place.
Now, the fitness place does Zumba, pole exercising (not the pole dancing,
the use the pole for resistance exercises), and also some other stuff, I
mentioned that I never took any formal exercise classes before, and she said
that she would work one on one with me until I feel comfortable enough to do
it in a class environment, maybe there is an exercise studio you can go to
and get some one on one and see if you like the program.
That is what I am doing, so far I am liking it, she very descriptive of the
steps and the movements of the exercises, so that I am understanding what
she wants me to do.
To Julie and all, it is not the place you are going to for the classes or
exercise place, it is making sure you are taught the correct way of doing
the exercises, and that you have a good trainer to be patient and to explain
what they are doing.
I hope this helps.
