Hi Everyone:
I was so disappointed to find out yesterday that Prodigy has discontinued the process of getting their "talking Pump" on the market. I started to do additional research. I spoke to James at Access solution. He has designed a "Pump mate" to work with his Medtronic insulin pump. He Has been working with Medtronic for 2 years trying to get them to help package this product. The FDA process is lengthy and Medtronic can get it through the FDA quicker than a small company. The "Pump Mate" allows a blind diabetic to use all the functions on their insulin pump by talking each selection and activation. The voice is very clear and the device appears to be small. So, I am praying for this new development to make it through the FDA so that I will be able to use all the different functions on my pump. I have sent a letter asking Medtronic to consider the " Pump Mate" for the visually impaired. If you are interested Google search "Pump Mate" and a proto type comes up with dimensions and how it works. If you wear a pump from Medtronic please consider writing to them to request their help in having the "Pump Mate" available for those of us that would like to be independent with our pumps.
