Lantus is a very slow acting insulin....does not even start to work for for 2-4 hours so do not eat sugar unless you took an overdose of fast acting too. Will last up to 24-36hours.
Eat protein to keep sugar stable and test more frequently until the 24-36 hour period has passed...don't panic...if you are going to goof on an insulin, this is the one to goof on, as it is VERY forgiving and is so slow acting. When I am too sick to eat I only take Lantus and I do not eat at all. That is how great it is, and I maintain a normal blood sugar
