[Diabetes-talk] blood sugar testing without test strips or lancets

There is a meter (not the one you mention) that has just been approved for
sale in Europe; it's a CGMS so don't know how often it must be finger-stick
calibrated. But it supposedly uses IR light through the skin. Personally, I
wouldn't trust such a meter until it had been on the market for at least
five years; in my estimation, such meters don't depend upon an absolute
measurement but must do some calculating and guessing using an algorithm and
model before a reading is shown. To me, there are still far too many
variables to allow precise results. Just my $0.02-worth.

None of the accessible meters ought to have been put on the market unless
they had a choice of a male or female voice on them and both of those
voices ought to have been the voices of actors and actresses who had
played major vampire figures in the movies. What I had read earlier
Novartis in 2012 was in final clinical testing phase of a meter and it
will be like more expensive meters used in hospitals that use oximeter
clips and send a light through the skin of the finger and collect blood
sugar information that way. On Mon, 12 Nov 2012, COLLEEN ROTH wrote:
