[Diabetes-talk] "Too Young for Insulin?"

Please check with your pharmacy. Many of them are not reading the scripts correctly. If the doctor is telling you something and the pharmacy another you really need to call them Pharmacy and let them know this. They need to contact the doctor.
Case in point.  I take drops for my eyes for allergies, one day not to long ago about November. Went to pick them up. Came home took them around 5pm like I always do. My eyes were on fire. I mean burning.
Dr. had just renewed the prescription in the office and called it in, since my  pharmacy is on the way home and I was walking. So by the time I get there the scripts are ready.
I called the Dr. first to see if he changed the drops, I mean I just saw him and he didn't say anything. He said no and that he called it in himself and gave me the name of the person he spoke to. I didn't recognize the name since I know them all.  He asked my husband to read the bottle to him to see what was on it.
He did. Doctor said those drops are not for the eyes but for the ears, that is why they were burning. Thank god not damage to the eyes more than I need.
Doctor said to go to the pharmacy and find out what happened. I did, the manager of duty, who was new, said he filled it himself.  My husband said did you fail the pharmacy school, even my wife can read with the proper equiptment, and told him the story.
Now again, being from the background I have, I know long story. I said that I know that pharmacies are suppose to double check what they are doing and triple check before it goes out to the patient. There are things in place.  He said he did and the Dr was wrong. We said we just spoke to the Dr. and said that wasn't correct.
Anyway, he didn't apologize, looked into the order again and realized he did give me the wrong thing. Still didn't apologize. I said it could have been worse.
I called the Rite Aide Pharmacy Customer Service Line in the morning. Got a hold of the District Manager, and we both had a very long talk with that pharmacist about his attitude and not doing his job properly.
The staff there knows me for over 10+ years. And the techs that assist the pharmacists, I told Rite Aide these people are the best employees and was not going to have any issues with them, but this pharmacists didn't do his safety checks.
The long and short of it Dar, double check with the pharmacist and dr. What is says on the bottle may not be what the doctor ordered and needs to be fixed.
