Well, I take something called lantis solo star, it comes in a pen, and 
I've never heard anything about shaking it up, or not carrying it with 
me. I take it at bedtime, so that isn't a problem but, the last time I 
went to emergency, a nurse suggested that I carry it with me in case I 
was there a long time. They were able to give me a dose there though.
