[Diabetes-talk] Pump question

Bridgit, I spoke with James at a conference here in March. Medtronic has
expressed no interest any more in supporting this remote. He's heard
nothing. I absolutely would not choose a pump based on this hope. Not right
now anyway. I think, and this is just my thought, that part of the problem
is right about the same time as this remote was announced, someone else
showed how he could hack into a Medtronic pump and did this at a major
convention. So now this brings up safety, security, etc. I don't think
Medtronic is very happy at all. And this doesn't tend to be a company that
likes to work with third party venders. It's a real shame, of course. I
still haven't made my decision about my next pump. I'm putting the pro in
procrastination right now. <grin>
But one of these days, I'll have to face up to it. I'll keep all of you
posted and I look forward to hearing what the rest of you do as well.
Thanks.
Veronica

Subject: [Diabetes-talk] Pump question

I was down between a MedTronic and Animas Ping for possible new pumps
and preferred the Animas, but in light of the fact that someone is
working on the remote for MedTronic pumps, does anyone think it worth
getting the MedTronic instead? I gather the remote device is still a
ways off from being available on the market, but it seems like the only
active solution currently out there. Advice?

Bridgit
