I agree with that. But then we shouldn't charge them an arm and a leg for a
placebo. But perhaps that would ruin the effect. Why not place all the
surplus income from marketing placebos into food banks or something?

Placebo is a word that means there are no physical effects, but the person 
feels better anyway.  In controlled trials, scientists often provide part of

the group the new medication, and then give the rest of the group (the 
control group) the placebo (sugar pill often).  There are always those in 
the control group who claim improvements, even though they did not take the 
medication and the pill they took was sugar.

Lately, people are starting to say "So what?  If people can take a sugar 
pill and feel better, how can we argue with that?"
