[Diabetes-talk] whole lemons

Like anything, I don't think it's exactly the same for everyone. If
feeling sick though, many people will not be helped by drinking from a
straw. With morning sickness, I was advised to avoid straws, and not
drink cold liquids but sip room temp drinks until I no longer felt sick.
Some women never experience morning sickness and therefore probably have
no issues ever drinking with a straw. Likewise, if you have the flu or
some other illness making you nauseous, you potentially could trigger
your gag reflex by drinking from a straw but perhaps not. What works for
one person may not for another, and some symptoms are worse for others,
etc.

I understand. Nonetheless, I'm saying that, for example, when out on a
boat and working up to a case of seasickness, I drank through straws and
it didn't seem to affect things one way or another. Either I was going
to lose my cookies or I wasn't. As always, YMMV.

When you feel nauseas. You have to feel nauseas to have this happen.

The function of sipping from a straw can actually trigger the gag
reflex.

What the hell does drinking through a straw have to do or not to do with
barfing all over the floor?

I was told anything acidic wouldn't help, and also to not drink cold
liquids or drink from a straw.

No ice cream and pickles during morning sickness. That's for cravings.
I'm only talking from my experience as a WIC dietitian.
