Everett, I have been using the Count-A-Dose provided by Prodigy for a
number of years and recently ordered a second as a backup just in case.
A couple of months back I was given a different kind of syringe from the one
I had used for years. I soon discovered that consistancy of insulin usage
had changed. I personally did not like the difference in feel as I drew the
insulin and injected it. I also found that using the same click count by the
time I should have reached the end of the bottle of insulin left me with an
additional 200 units. HMMM! I contacted the pharmacy and was finally able to
exchange the remainder of the newer syringes for what I had been using and
things seem to have returned to normal for me.
All this to say, you might want to try a different syringe than what you
have been using. I do not recall the specific name of the syringe I did not
like, but the one that seems to work well for me with the Count-A-Dose is
called
B D Insulin Syringe. The tube is slightly longer and thinner than the one I
did not find satisfactory and fits the Count-A-Dose more easily.Using the B
D syringe my insulin bottle usually empties just above 1,000 units. This has
been my experience, and, I would suggest perhaps looking for or trying out a
different syringe.
