[Diabetes-talk] What have your affiliates done for diabetesseminars during convention

We don't have an official DAN here, but we do have plenty of diabetics
interested in a seminar of some kind for our state convention. I'm
currently heading the parent group here, which is just being developed,
so I don't have the time to take on starting DAN, but I think the
interest would be here if some one was willing. Something to present to
our state board.

This is a good thing. I am so happy that you now have a DAN. I only
wish other affiliates would follow in our footsteps. I assume some day
that they will. What other affiliates in the U. S. have a DAN?

Last year, before we existed in Iowa, Mike Freeman was our national rep.
We put together a nice long list of resources from the BARD, Bookshare,
etc., and several web sites. Mike talked about the purpose of the DAN,
and I talked with the group about food. As I think I said here after
our meeting this year, we had an endocrinologist talk with us about
diabetes basics--what causes it, treatment, self-management,
complications from a body systems perspective, etc. Then she answered
questions from the audience. Excellent program!
