They're also cheering a doctor they have no personal relationship with.
He's not treating audience members. Perhaps were he their actual doctor,
they wouldn't cheer so much.

I really don't watch it so much, but I am just amazed how those folks
cheer for him. I was never likely to cheer for my doc like that.
