Most people I know who've done Atkins, or something similar, did
no-meat, maybe included a few raw veggies. They lost quite a bit of
weight, but had constant cravings, binged ate and eventually put weight
back on. A small handful have kept the weight off, but they literally
only eat meat. They're the handful that have the will-power to eat only
lean meat, but I question their health, and the continual thinness is
most likely due to muscle atrophied due to eating meat only.

Well, people mis-follow Atkins, as Sandi said. You are only supposed to
eat just meat and veggies for two weeks and then you gradually add in
carbs. But many people just don't go back to adding in things because
either they are afraid to or they are so happy with their beginning
results that they keep on doing it. They don't really study how you are
to follow Atkins.
