[Diabetes-talk] Has anyone ever had this happen?

This is new? At every doctor appointment or hospitalization, they have
poked my finger, wiped the first drop away and squeezed again and used
that second drop for the test. They have done this as long as I can
remember. Now, I've not been told to do this at home, but it's not a new
concept to me. I think it may be just a precaution they take.

I had this happen to me also. When I asked about it, I had the nurse
practitioner at our diabetes center tell me not to use that 1st drop of
blood for testing too. I remember at that time, I was like you've got to
be kidding me. I always had a really hard time getting enough blood to
get a reading on a test strip, and I was pretty annoyed that Now I had
to try for two drops. I wish I could have told you something I had found
helpful for this, but I honestly never did. Maybe someone who has been
at it longer could help with this one. Take care. Julie
