[Diabetes-talk] Desperately Seeking insulin Supplier UnderMedicarePart B

Cheryl, I have to disagree with you. If I find a publication on the Medicare
website as I included in the below email history which states that insulin
pump supplies and the insulin used in the pump is covered by Medicare Part
B, I'm going to do what I have to to get the Part B coverage. Granted,
locating a supplier is the challenging part but I'm not throwing in the
towel yet since Part B coverage makes a significant difference in my
out-of-pocket cost versus Part D.

Keith, I've no doubt that Medicare will happily let you get your insulin
through Part D if you choose to go that route. But I would strongly suggest
you look further into getting it through Part B since you're on an insulin
pump and your costs will be significantly less that way.

Alan

UnderMedicarePart B

Insulin isn't covered under part B, I am also a Medical Biller you can try.
If you have Part D which covers medications, it is not a durable medical
supply like syringes or the pump supplies or strips.
Insulin is under Pharmacy prescriptions. If you only have part A and B, you
need to get either Part D, or a medicare health plan, which this is how that
works.
Places like aarp or any one of the insurance carriers out there, you will
not lose your medicare, you are just electing to have medicare to be paid to
that insurance company, you still have doctors and hospitals and you will
have the pharmacy as well, or you can get Part D Medicare which is
Prescriptions only.
