[Diabetes-talk] A Stripless Talking Meter ...

Not to mention, every time you insert a new sensor, you have to calibrate with your BG meter. The data from a CGMS runs a little bit behind because it’s getting its info from a different fluid and all over the thing come warnings about how it’s good for spotting patterns and warning of lows, but not accurate enough to replace a meter. Now, strictly personal opinion here, taking a very expensive device and calibrating it against a meter that has a 20 per cent range of variation? Ummm, now that makes sense, right? Not!
If I were really having trouble detecting lows, I’d get a dog. They’re faster at detecting the lows and don’t set off alarms if they’re not in the same room with you. <grin>

I have recently heard advertizements on TV from Ariva Medical promoting a “talking” meter that does not use strips. I know these types of things have in the past not been accurate, but it is tempting and I’m sick of the two meters out there that claim “accessibility.” So, even if the stripless meter wasn’t fully accessible, at this point I’m used to that anyway.
