[Diabetes-talk] Coke 0 type drinks

I come from a family of soda drinkers. My mom is pretty much addicted, and
she rarely drinks anything but soda. I've always been a big water drinker,
but I use to consume quite a bit of diet soda and drinks like Crystal Light.
When I was diagnosed with tachycardia years ago, I cut way back on caffeine,
like no more than once a week. When I was pregnant, I ate healthier than I
ever have. I drank about 64 to 96 ounces of water a day, and while I don't
drink quite that much now, I try to do 32 to 64 ounces of water a day. My
husband loves tea and soda, but I do not allow sugar soda at all in the
house,, and limit diet soda, and even then, only caffeine-free, and this is
not even the worse aspect of soda, as others have pointed out. I allow tea,
but I rarely drink it. I do not allow my son to drink soda at all. He gets
water or milk with a little 100% juice thrown in. He tends to get
constipated, so he's allowed to have a bit more juice than I would normally
give, but we also do lots of fruit too, which helps with this problem as
well. While I have not cut soda out entirely, it's by no means a staple in
my life. I also bought a Brita squeeze water bottle, so I can take that with
me and fill it up as I need. It was $15 for a set of two on Amazon, and in
the long run, it's cheaper than bottled water, plus, with all the concerns
about plastic, it's nice for that reason too. It's a personal choice, but if
asked, I would advise at least drastically limiting soda and drinks with
artificial sweetners if not cutting out entirely.

Along with Bonnie and research
Artificial sweeteners are not better in any drink. It turns to formaldehyde
after ingested...it makes your crave drinking soda even more.
Love the weight loss side effects---but the poison aspects sway me even
more.
