Thank you, Bridgit.  I am a type 2.  I so far have not had to inject 
insulin, but I do take Metformin twice a day.  I only started testing 
earlier this year with a talking glucometer.  So far I have been able to 
keep my A1C under reasonable control.

Welcome to the list. I'm a type one and have been for 30 years, which is 
most of my life. Like you, diabetes is not what caused my blindness. I use 
an insulin pump. We have a plethora of diabetics here who can inform on all 
manner of topics relating to diabetes, and we all have unique experiences 
with our disease that are equally shared.

My name is Mark Tardif and I am a new member to the list.  I am what some 
people would call borderline diabetic and have been for a few years.  This
