Hi Rachel,
I use all of my fingers since I started testing in 1983. I have felt no
difference in my Braille reading skills.
Warmly, Joy

Hi Rachel,
Now I have to chime in. I've had Type 2 since 2006, and I never prick my
index fingers. The rest just follow in reading Braille the way I do it, so
they don't matter as much. Also, never prick the fingertips. Prick the
side of your finger, far enough down the side so you're into the fat, not
the nailbed and far enough up on the side so you're not at the fingertip.
Like you, I'm not sacrificing my reading fingers to diabetes. It can have
the rest of them!
Sandi

For those who read Braille, with so many pricks, how does that affect your
reading ability?
I'm proficient in it, and don't want to not be able to read it, as I've been
reading it since I was 3.
