[Diabetes-talk] sharps

Since I use a pump, the only sharps I have to dispose of are lancets, which
the kind I use can be recapped, and I guess my insulin cartridges do have a
needle that attaches, but when you detach it, you have to recap it. I've
never thrown away uncapped syringes or lancets, and yes, the trash is
thoroughly tied up before it leaves the house.

Unfortunately, I'm the same way. I can get away with it because I live
alone, noone else goes through my trash, and when I throw the bags away, I
make sure and tie them tightly closed so no sharps will fall out, and then
toss them into our trash compactor.

Technically, you're supposed to use something like an empty detergent bottle
to dispose of syringes and lancets, but I usually just recap and toss in
garbage. Plus, I use a pump now, so not a lot of material hazardous to
others. Anything else like strips or wipes, I just toss too.
