[Diabetes-talk] Testing 8 Times a Day?

Wow! I've never heard that. I've always heard that you need to show a high
A1C for some insurance companies and that's ridiculous too. I really thought
that pumps were so standard now that most insurance companies were not so
silly. Now, CGM? They're still stupid about that one. I had to lie on my
form to get it but in the long-run, I'm probably going to save them a bunch
of money just from better control. And hey, one of these days, I might even
decrease my blood pressure when I get control of the tape. <laughing!>
Actually, today I got the tape almost wrinkle free and what do I do? I
miscalculated by a couple of inches as to where it landed so the edge of my
underwear was rubbing and curling up the edge of the tape. So now there's an
extra piece of Tegaderm on top. Oh it's going to be an interesting week!
But I do think I test more with the Dexcom because I get curious and
compare. I'm quite surprised at how much it's helped my attitude about my
numbers. Seeing so much, I find I'm actually much kinder to myself about
what happens. I just fix things. I do wish I'd had something like this a
long time ago. It would still be fine with me if they made some design
changes in the device itself but I'll take what there is for now and use it.
And all I have to do is try not to catch the transmitter on the drawer knob
that is right in the way when I stand at the kitchen sink. <grin>
I really believe the best treatment for any of us is the one we'll do!
Here's to getting our needs met and quality of life prolonged!

I was told for a pump you have to drop below 100 or insurance will not pay
for the pump.
So that took care of that.
