If you are interested in the latest developments regarding management of
diabetes or if you have a friend or loved one who has diabetes, you won't
want to miss the 2016 Diabetes Action Network Seminar to be held from 12:30
pm to 5:00 pm July 2, 2016 at the Rosen Shingle Creek hotel, 9939 Universal
Blvd in the Suwannee 11 Level 2 room. Registration begins at 12:30 pm and
the actual seminar begins at 1:15 pm. In addition to the usual business
meeting of the Diabetes Action Network and election of officers and DAN
Board members, there will be other interesting items, to wit:
.get the latest information on new drugs for Type 2 diabetes;
.get the latest information on new insulins now on the market;
.learn about the latest improvements in accessibility of the DEXCom G5
continuous glucose monitoring system including improvements in accessibility
of the iPhone app it uses:
.Learn about a proposal soon to come before the Food and Drug administration
to allow use of readings from the DEXCom G5 system to determine insulin
dosages;
.learn about and participate in a project to be undertaken by DAN to study
and improve the accessibility of diabetes management smartphone apps;
.discuss a proposed "accessibility bill of rights for the blind" of diabetes
equipment which could be adopted as a policy statement of DAN to be used in
public forums;
.learn about a committee recently formed by the leadership of NFB to
increase visibility of diabetes accessibility within NFB and to the general
public and to formulate initiatives which may become an integral part of
NFB's legislative and policy efforts;
.learn about the latest developments from Envision America, developer of the
ScripTalk prescription labeling system.
