[Diabetes-talk] FDA approved the Artificial pancreas by Medtronic!

Hello,
I wonder how accessible their CGM and Insulin pump are to those of us who
are blind.
I doubt that the Dexcom brand of CGM will work with a Medtronics Insulin
pump.

I'm watching this one with a lot of curiosity. I just wish the CGM were a
bit more stabile. Given the number of times I've told my Dexcom what my BG
reading really was, I'd hate to think that a pump was making decisions based
on possibly eronious numbers. But I'd love to find out how it works.

Yes, my endo said the artificial pancreas would be available very soon, and
that it will work in tandem with CGMs. He encouraged me to start a CGM soon
so when the pancreas is available, it will be an easier transition with the
technology. My problem is also the insurance, currently.

I just read that FDA has approved the Artificial Pancreas that Medtronics
has made. It also stated that Medtronics will have it available Spring
2017. FDA did put this on the fast track to get it approved.

I have already contacted my sales rep from Medtronics and asked how do I get
it/ He told me I can apply for the I think it was[650 G pump, but I still
need to get Medicare/United Health Care to approve the CGM.

I am going for this!
