I am not a swimmer. But I have to noticed that the sensor seems to bug out a little if the temperature goes up. I have noticed that after a shower the DexCom will tell me of a high glucose, but just waiting a few minutes and the sensor on the DexCom cools down, and returns to normal.

Are you type one?

So much goes into glucose control. Exercise, diet, frequent testing, etc. It can take trial and error to figure out the right combo for you, but usually frequent testing is key.

I was reding up on the dexcom.the insturctions say califoarate every 12 hours once .so I don’t know what is he best ideal settings. Whats the point of caliberatin more then once if your goals is to get an idea of the graph as it relates ot the glucose controls. Sorry I a being a bit pesimestic on the outlook of he matter. But having had this disease for 12 years now, things haven ot change and are not going to change for ethe better. The only thin gi can control from getting worse and taking over my life. Thast the only thing I can do abouthe matter. Control the diseas and not lethe disease control my life.

I actually calibrate my Dexcom three times a day so that I can control when the thing starts annoying me about calibrating. Mine gets way off once in awhile, particularly after I've gone swimming. I'm beginning to think that the transmitter is more temperature sensitive than they claim.

Hello,

You will have to calibrate the system twice a day. Once in the morning, and once before bed. I still keep my glucose monitor around pretty close as the DexCom system sometimes is a quite as accurate as you would think. I also recommend if you are having any highs or lows to check with your glucose monitor, as the system like I said before could be a little bit off. I find that the DexCom is usually with in a few points weather that’s high or low. The system is great but you will still need your glucose monitor a minimum of twice daily, maybe even more.

Hello I just saw my endo today. He placed me on a trial for the dexcom
g5 cgm so we can have better idea of my glucos numbers an then to get a better idea of diabetes management . I am on the trial for 1 week to se how well the dexcom g5 works. I hope that this does work. Once it does work , the hard part will be justifying to the insurance company why I need the device. we will se when I cross that bridge. IF need be I will have to fund it out of pocket that will be an additional expense. But is easier to do then priking fingers every hour of the day. As the endo wanted me to take
4 reading every day to get an idea of my numbers. So with the dexcom
g5 I hope I wont have to do that but caliberate a few times a week.
I don't know but wanting to get more understanding about it.
