Bridgit, I am very uncertain about this. Everything I've heard so far
involves people being told by their doctors that this new thing from
Medtronic is virtually God itself and will do everything but make your bed
for you. This means, of course, I'm skeptical till someone shows me. The
thing is, from what I know at the moment, why would I want to base an entire
system on a CGM that has a reputation for not being as accurate? Honestly, I
don't want Medtronic turning off my pump for two hourse when it detects a
low number. That would not work well for me. So far my experiences have been
difficult at best, although obviously not with that pump. Things were hard
to get started as Jamie said, and others were buried in menus and were even
hard to get read by a sighted person if we were stuck. So if it were me, I
wouldn't hold off waiting for it unless it were just about to come out. But
truthfully, were I sighted, I would not be the first to jump on this one.
Just my dollar's worth. <grin>
Veronica

Veronica,

You can likely answer this. So I discussed getting Dexcom with my endo, but
he wants me to wait because the mini med will soon come out with its
pump/CGM combo, and he feels this would be the better option. Were I
sighted, I may do this, however... I didn't get into it with him just yet
because this can be confusing for some (sigh) but what is the likelihood
that this device will be accessible enough for blind users, do you know?
Thanks.

Bridgit

Daniel, your insurance company is full of it. I use my iPhone exclusively
for my readings. The latest app update even says that the app has now been
cleared by the FDA for making dosing decisions. Forget their inaccessible
receiver and just plan to use the app on your phone and you'll be fine. And
you can tell 'em I said so. <laughing!> Veronica

Good day list:
After much fighting, I appear as if I will be getting my new Dexcom system
after all.
Last time I wrote, I asked about the sensors, etc. However, I am writing to
ask about the receiver for the decks calm G5 this time.
>From what I'm told from Dexcom, you cannot use your smart device for your
readings, due to insurance restrictions. So how would I be able to use my
iPhone, plus the receiver? In other words, if I have to use my iPhone, would
the results eventually be sent to the receiver, when it too, is in range?
