Hello Jerry,

Unfortunately, I did not make it to the convention due to personal problems
in my home. I am sure that everyone left motivated and ready to go out and
build the Federation.

I read the previous message and understand that you would like to post the
attached article to NFB-NEWSLINE. Do you have someone to facilitate your
request? I could definitely post it on the Ohio information page, but I feel
that this should get National circulation. If you would like, I could talk
to Scott to inquire on how it can be done. Let me know what you think.

Sincerely,
Walter Mitchell

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.

Hi Gary,

It was good to see you and my other NFB friends at the NFB Convention in
Orlando, FL last week!

At Bernadette Jacob's request, I was a guest speaker at the NFB Diabetes
Action Network meeting. While you were in the meeting you asked for NFB
Newsline articles. I am working with the Blind Diabetes Group and we are
working hard to serve blind diabetics nationwide. Please see the comments
below and the Blind Diabetes Group News Release attached. We would love to
have this published in the NFB Newsline. If you have questions, please let
me know.

Thanks Gary!

Jerry

Blind Diabetes Group Friends,

There is a new website especially for Blind Diabetics - The Blind Diabetes
Group. The purpose is to enable blind diabetics to improve their diabetes
health skills, gain independence, and make new friends!

The Blind Diabetes Group website provides free "living with diabetes and
blindness" audio training materials from top professionals. It offers
friendly nationwide peer support groups where blind diabetics come together
by conference call to learn, laugh, and do life together. Check out the
Blind Diabetes Group on the logo link below.

The Blind Diabetes group is sponsored by Medicare Bid Winner US Med which
provides the blind-friendly Prodigy Voice glucose meter to Medicare, private
health plan, and non-insured customers. If you want to order a Prodigy
Voice meter and supplies US Med created a special phone number just for
blind diabetics - 800-809-3472.

Help us get the word out by telling others!

Thanks,
