Also, just because it says sugar-free doesn't unfortunately guarantee that the carbs will be lower. That being said, for one mg of carbs I wouldn't stress. I use sugar-free and regular, keeping the sugar-free for hunger only, but the regular for situations where I might need that extra boost of sugar.

I don’t know for sure without looking at the label, but I suspect the sugar-free lifesavers contain sugar alcohols, like maltitol or mannitol. I can’t eat items with sugar alcohols, because they tend to give some people diarrhea, and I’m one of them. Certainly they’re not better than the Lifesavers that have sugar. One of my friends who’s a Type 1 carries regular lifesavers with her at all times, in case she has a low blood sugar.

I need to say that I found out something rather strange today. I purchased a bag of sugar free Lifesavers today and a bag of regular lifesavers. I had a friend read me how many carbs were in them. Serving size is 4 Sugar free per serving 15 grams carb

Regular with sugar per serving is 14 gram carbs per serving

What is this all about? Does any one know?

Joyce
