Also, make sure they don't scan any extra sensors you are taking with you. Put them in a separate bag and tell them it's medical supplies that need to be visually inspected. That's what Dexcom told me anyway. That part's a pain in the you know what because they almost lost mine once. Next time I take a long trip, like guide dog class, I'm shipping mine ahead of time. <grin>

Yes, I was told to never walk through any of the scanning machines- metal detector one or the full body scan.  I always insist to be patted down.  The insulin pump is not supposed to go through the scanners either.

At airports, there are certain security devices you cannot walk through. You just tell them that your medical device can't go through, and they can either pat you down or use the hand wand.
