It had to pass F.D.A. approval before being marketed since it is a
medical device and those go through an F.D.A. approval process before
marketing.  I'm pretty sure we can say to the extent the device was
tested by the F.D.A. approval process it works.  That is not necessarily
to say that it works better than finger sticks yet or ever will.
Additional scientific refereed articles on this device will be the acid
test.
