No, anyone with diabetes, no matter how great your A1-C needs to see a high-risk OBGYN. It surprises me your endo would agree with this. A1-C has nothing to do with whether you see a high-risk OBGYN or not. And while pregnant, your A1-C can change. I highly recommend a high-risk. Plus, no matter how well managed your diabetes is, it's not uncommon for diabetics to go into labor early. Not always much early, but, still, it happens frequently, and also, having a big baby is very common for diabetics. My first did not come early, but, was 8 lbs. 13 ounces. He didn't stay big, but, he was big at birth. My second came 5 weeks early and was 8 lbs. 4 ounces, a really big premie. No one believed he was a premie, LOL! He didn't have any health issues, just decided to come early. He's in the 50th percentile, so, just average now, but, again, big at birth. I had to have 2 emergency C-sections with both. Now, this is just my experience, but, it's not uncommon either. I really encourage you to follow a high-risk OBGYN. And it's not like it's a bad thing.

My primary care physician does not think I will need to see a high-risk pregnancy doctor. My A1 C went from 6.8 to 6.4, I have it tested again next week to see if it has dropped lower. My Endo chronologist also doesn’t think I need to see a high-risk doctor, however books that I have read said different.
