Without diabetes LOL my firstborn was six weeks early, and he was 7 pounds, 3 ounces, and 23 inches long. I think either way I go LOL I’m doomed. I didn’t have just stational diabetes or anything with him. I was just diagnosed with diabetes December 2017, they have me on 500 mg of met Forman. I am going to look for a high-risk doctor anyways, and luckily my child’s pediatrician is also a high-risk pediatrician for babies born to diabetic mother so I don’t have to get a new one. The books say one thing, and the doctor say one thing, and I guess I am to the point that I rather be safe than sorry, and I’d rather have a team and not needed then not have a team and need it if that makes sense. Since we are going through fertility LOL we would’ve paid way too much money for something to go wrong if our butts are completely covered if that makes sense. Even without going through fertility, a baby is a blessing, and I’m not quite sure why they said we don’t need it, but books say different. I’m going to go with the book.

A1-C has nothing to do with whether you see a high-risk OBGYN or not. And while pregnant, your A1-C can change. I highly recommend a high-risk. Plus, no matter how well managed your diabetes is, it's not uncommon for diabetics to go into labor early. Not always much early, but, still, it happens frequently, and also, having a big baby is very common for diabetics. My first did not come early, but, was 8 lbs. 13 ounces. He didn't stay big, but, he was big at birth. My second came 5 weeks early and was 8 lbs. 4 ounces, a really big premie. No one believed he was a premie, LOL! He didn't have any health issues, just decided to come early. He's in the 50th percentile, so, just average now, but, again, big at birth. I had to have 2 emergency C-sections with both. Now, this is just my experience, but, it's not uncommon either. I really encourage you to follow a high-risk OBGYN. And it's not like it's a bad thing.

My Endo chronologist also doesn’t think I need to see a high-risk doctor, however books that I have read said different.
