[Diabetes-Talk] Pro Voice V9 Glucometer

Most of the time it seems to be about a year. Once in awhile it's longer and sometimes, surprise! Only a few months. But on average, around a year. 
The thing I always wonder about, and have no answer of course, is how strips are stored in warehouses
And whether or not any temperature limitations are violated. It does say on the boxes, not to get above and below a certain temperature but I can't remember those numbers at the moment. I can look though. 
I guess all of this stuff explains why they want us to test with the glucose control solution. But truthfully, I've never been any good at that. <grin> 
As for the amount of blood needed for a test, the FreeStyle, which I use, takes half the blood required by the Prodigy. And even then sometimes I have trouble. I'll have to find out how much blood the CleverCheck and the other meter want. 
And despite years of using moisturizer and all of that, with two months of hardly any finger sticks at all, my callouses haven't gone down at all yet. My endo told me that some of this is just individual make-up. Some people just make callous or scar tissue more than others. So, I'm ready for complete auto pilot now. <big grin.>

It also has to do with the reagent chemical that is in the strips and how long it lasts. I am fortunate in that I get my strips through a local pharmacy so I have gotten them in the habit of reading me the expiration dates when I purchase the strips. Then when I get home, a braille label goes on the box.

Everything has an expiration date. Material just breaks down and doesn't work as well over time. Depending on how far past the expiration date, it probably doesn't make a difference, but, if strips are years past, probably should get some new ones. Obviously, the expiration date is listed on the box of strips, but, being blind, of course, we can't see that. A bottle of strips last quite a while though, but, honestly can't remember off the top of my head. I go through mine pretty quickly, so, never have to worry about this 😊

I had a new container that had five bad   tabs

I live alone and when I bought the Clever Choice Voicemeter last fall I did the entire set up on my own with no sighted assistance. It speaks all of its memory values as well without limitations.

I too am an excellent Amazon customer and use them all the time for a variety of products, but when it comes to the test strips, they are not sold by Amazon directly they are coming from a second or third party seller. So I do not want to risk getting a batch or several batches of strips that are out of date. Besides, I have insurance that is supposed to cover the cost of my diabetic testing supplies. I want insurance to cover that cost not pay out of pocket for them.

My understanding was the Clever is not fully accessible to set up initially.

I order a lot on Amazon, including food, and things are always "fresh." 
Especially if you have Prime and things come in 2 days. Shipping from Amazon is no different then shipping from anywhere else.

I have the Clever Choice talking meter as well and would like very much to switch to it rather than using the Prodigy. However, I do not want to purchase strips through Amazon since I question the freshness of the strips. 
Does any one know of both the name and address of a Medicare approved provider that has strips for the Clever Choice Voice? This meter does have full accessibility – the Prodigy is not the only one with full accessibility. The issue is getting strips that work with the Clever Choice Voice.

Thanks for any recommendations on providers.

Actually you can do this also with the Cleverchoice voice hd meter. It is also fully accessible. I have one. I just prefer the Prodigy Voice because the strips are a bit cheaper.
