[Diabetes-Talk] Freestyle Pokeless Monitoring Device

As of the last I knew, the FreeStyle Libre does not automatically track your blood sugar levels. It only reads when you scan. It did not have alarms for high or low BG readings. If you don't feel you need these, fine. If you do, in my mind, the Dexcom is still far superior. I'm only saying this to make sure that as consumers of medical devices, we pay attention and know what we're getting. If it's right, it's great that there are choices and if there is a less expensive thing that works, excellent. I just don't want to see things dissolve into oh, this is better because it's cheaper sort of mentality. If that happens, then I fear that insurance companies will only look at that factor and not at what is provided and what is needed by the person with diabetes. Okay, rant over.
I will continue prowling around to see if cheap cheap cheap is the reason Libre had so little trouble getting Medicare coverage while Dexcom has struggled. As a Dexcom G6 user who is two days away from switching to Medicare, frankly, I'm a bit scared.

Hi,

I use the Freestyle Libre and it works well. I use the censors in
conjunction with the iPhone app rather than the standalone reader as the
reader is inaccessible. Note that the censors are the same regardless of
whether you use the app or the reader.

Cheers,

Ed
